My Flight In a B-17G

Aluminum Overcast

On a cold, blustery and rainy October day in a place called Waukegan Airport

we waited patiently for the ceiling to lift above 1500 ft with a 5 mile visibility.

Finally after a 3 1/2 hour wait we began to climb aboard the Aluminum Overcast

for our  journey into the past. The crew was in place as the engines one by one

coughed, belched and cranked slowly till a big puff of smoke exited the

exhaust. We  could feel the vibrations of the engines reaching readiness for taxiing

to the end of the runway. A final check of all  systems and the running up of the

engines to full RPM we were on our way down the  runway. Upon lift off the

Flight Engineer motioned to us that we could get up and roam thru  the plane.

Here our a few of the pictures of my experience.
